This position reports to the Patient Access Manager and/or Supervisor. The Lead Patient Access Specialist is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare’s Culture of Choice®; Performs Scheduling or Authorization duties. Interviews patients to obtain all pertinent demographic, insurance, and clinical information for entry into EMR. Contact providers as needed. Is knowledgeable in the scheduling and authorization processes for common insurance carriers for services performed in hospital and clinic locations. The Lead has demonstrated advanced knowledge of Patient Access, Scheduling/Authorization key responsibilities, and serves as a mentor and trainer within the department. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
- All interactions are conducted in a professional manner, following H.E.A.R.T. guidelines, providing exemplary Customer Service as evidenced by leadership, care partners, and customers.
- Work with physician offices and ancillary departments, providing information when necessary or forwarding relevant documents, and assisting care partners with resolving issues related to current standards and processes helping to meet and promote departmental goals for completion timeline
- Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner. Make outgoing calls to patients and providers as needed to schedule appointments and/or obtain updated/corrected order information; and meet the number of completed interactions currently established by the department.
- Facilitate communication between Management and staff.
- Performing quality assurance checks on assigned accounts; assumes responsibility for the department in the Supervisor’s absenc
- Communication with staff is clear and concise; delivers both compliments and constructive feedback the instills trust and respect with the team; Leads the way in accomplishing goals and encourages positive employee morale.
- Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education Successfully complete annual net learning modules and other assigned classes by established deadlines.
- Ensure strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded by assisting leadership in utilizing proper resources, metrics, and talent to effectively achieve Game Plan goals and to extend the reach of our mission and vision.
- Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
- Follow EMTALA, HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines.
- Proactively identify problems and issues within the department and the hospital and inform department leader.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Advanced education or certifications in field prefrred
- 4+ years of progressive experience in healthcare patient access required
