General Description:
The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator reports to the Quality Manager. The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator compiles clinical data from the electronic medical record and other sources and performs data abstraction of voluntary, mandated, and publicly reported quality measures, clinically pertinent reviews and organization priority initiatives. The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator must be proficient in the use of software and applications to efficiently perform data abstraction. The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the review of concurrent clinical documentation and monitors patients for prospective compliance with national guidelines and submits information to organizationally recognized databases. The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator will also analyze the clinical record to identify areas of improvement in documentation, coding utilization and quality of patient care in alignment with quality initiatives, evidence guidelines based on best practices and data management specific to the quality initiatives assigned as well as prepares reports for various forums.

Key Responsibilities
- Performs retrospective and concurrent data abstraction of selected medical records within specified time frames for inpatient and outpatient mandated/publicly reported quality measures, clinically pertinent reviews, and organizational priority initiatives. Performs data collection and data analysis for Quality Improvement (QI) projects and required ongoing monitoring. Performs data entry for the QRM department.
- Serves as liaison for provider and healthcare professional groups for reporting quality initiative data.
- Prepares and communicates reports for various forums based on clinical data analysis with recommendations based on critical thinking and extensive research on best practices. Facilitates development of evidence-based guidelines, order sets and protocols based on best practices for the quality initiative programs coordinated
- Identifies potential noncompliant fallouts in a timely manner and communicates with the teams to make corrections to ensure compliance. Documents situations requiring concurrent reviewer intervention for use with trending and quality improvement opportunities
- Utilizes and supports clinical areas with performance improvement tools and methodologies. Serves as a resource to clinical staff in the performance improvement processing using the Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC process.
- Maintains compliance with all related regulatory standards for quality initiatives coordinated.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility.
- Participates on hospital committees as assigned.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
Requirements:
Formal Education:
Formal Education:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Work experience:
- 2 years to < 3 years experience in Nursing
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- State of Florida RN License
- Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
